My Nana's Old Fashioned Smokey Baked Beans with crispy fried bacon and maple syrup is something which is my list of favoruite summer nostalgia.

Its officially Summer season and just the right time to get into the baked beans season. If you know me then you know how busy my days are and how I have to maintain a good work life balance. Also since most of the times, I make my food at home, so slow cooker recipes are a saviour for me. These Summer slow cooker recipes are my go to summer dinners.

Besides this Slow Cooker Bourbon Baked Beans is something which is absolutely love, especially if its a weekend and I have some friends coming over for a bbq night or movie night as this is a perfect BBQ Side dish. Also Baked Beans are a must make during Father's Day Brunch and July 4th Party, because its the Summers!!!

Baked Beans are a favourite summer classic side dish recipe that I make so often around here. And everyone just loves my Grandma's old fashioned baked beans recipe. There is something so heart warming to hear positive feedbacks about your cooking and also for recipes which have a family lineage.

It's easy, comforting, and hearty and always hits the spots. It's so delicious that almost always is more popular than the main dish!

My Nana's Slow Cooker Baked Beans recipe is a simple dump-and-forget recipe and gets you perfectly baked beans in the slow cooker without the hassle of heating up the oven or stove.

Bacon Maple Baked Beans

This Bacon Maple Baked Beans is naturally sweet as it's made with Bacon, but there's a perfect tartness and spiciness which makes this taste so good and delicious!

This Slow Cooker Baked Beans is especially perfect for Potlucks or Family dinners or Barbeque Nights. Comes together exceptionally easily and is such a winner!

Summers around here are incomplete without Baked Beans. I make sure that I make Baked Beans at least once during the Summers. I know it's summer and you barely want to cook, but this isn't cooking at all. It's such a simple dump-and-forget recipe that you won't even notice how quickly it comes together.

Side Dishes have my heart at any dinner table or party table. I am one of those people who loves Side dishes more than the main dish! 😋

I know it sounds crazy but be it Potlucks or Family dinners or even Thanksgiving, I am always up for a huge load of leftover side dishes! So much fun right! Have you tried my favorite side dish recipes like

Bacon Maple Baked Beans in crockpot

I have used Bush's Baked Beans for this recipe. Bush's Beans has Pinto Beans. You can replace this with Pork and Beans which are made using Navy Beans.

Have you tried my other Beans side dish recipes like Best Homemade Refried Beans Recipe or Vegan White Bean Alfredo or Red Bean Tex Mex Soup or Vegan White Bean Alfredo or Tex Mex Black Eyed Peas and Rice Casserole

🥘 Ingredients you'll need to make Baked Beans

Baked Beans Ingredients
Baked Beans Ingredients
  • Baked Beans - I have used Bush's Baked Beans. You can use Pork and Beans or dry Navy Beans or Kidney Beans as well. Remeber to soak dry beans overnight in water before using them.
  • Onion & Garlic - Just for that depth of flavor, I saute Onion and Garlic in a pan and then dump it in the slow cooker. Its gives a deeper depth of taste and a sweetness because of the onion. You can dump raw onion and garlic as well.
  • Olive Oil - To saute the onion and garlic and to grease the inside of the Slow Cooker
  • Ketchup - Ketchup is the most important ingredient in baked Beans. I use Heinz Ketchup to make Heinz Baked Beans in the Slow Cooker. So yummy!! 😋
  • Barbeque Sauce - I just love the addition of Barbeque sauce to this dish. Gives it an edge and taste so good.
  • Worchestershire Sauce - For depth of flavoes
  • Frank's Red Hot Sauce - This gives a kick of spicy taste and balances out the sweetness of maple.
  • Andouille Sausage - This is already precooked and is for delicious smokey flavors.
  • Maple Syrup - Maple and bacon are a match made in heaven and here it works like a charm!
  • Salt & Pepper - To season the Baked Beans

See the recipe card below for quantities. Also, make sure you watch the video for a quick visual.

  • Maple - You can replace Maple with Honey or Agave. Or just use Brown Sugar.

Cooking Variations

Slow Cooker Baked Beans
  • Stove top - You can cook this in a dutch oven. Cook the Bacon and then remove them with a slotted spoon. In the same pan, cook the onion and garlic. Once cooked, add all the other ingredients in the pot. Cover cook on medium high heat for 60 minutes, stirrng only twice in between.

Storage

You can store these slow cooker baked beans in an air-tight container in the freezer for up to 3 months. You can refrigerate this for up to 3 days.

Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before use.

What Meat can I use?

I have used Smoked Sausage in this recipe. You can use Ground Beef or Ground Pork or Ground Sausage or Andouille Sausages in this recipe of Baked Beans

Can I use Pork and Beans?

Yes of course. Instead of Baked Beans, you can use Pork and Beans. However, if you're using Pork and Beans go a little heavy on the amount of Maple and Bacon to balance out all the flavors and not leave it bland.
